Make Up Essentials

Ceztlavie wants to know my make up essentials.

I am not really into make-up. I can actually go out of the house without powder or lip gloss. But here are mine...

1. In2It Dual Foundation - it's a pharmacy brand (more popular in Malaysia). I am prone to acne and this one gives me the coverage I need. I got a little of those zits when I started using it.

2. Mascara - Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline

3. Clinique Mocha Pink Blush

Yesterday

~Was so busy. I was trying to finish my buckets since today is the deadline.
~I got happy. After work hubby asked me to go to SM. Though we are having so many expenses with our work ups, I was able to buy new shoes and hubby got himself a guitar stand.
~I got satisfied. I suddenly craved for Caesar's Salad so we bought one from Pizza Hut.
~Then I got happier when hubby told me something (that something is a secret though).
~No side jobs still for me yesterday. I am trying to be stress-free for how many days now.
~I slept early and I just love it.

Fertility Update

I thought I would just have 8 shots of 75 iu of Gonal F like I mentioned here. But was I mistaken! Last Saturday, we went to my OB for my follicle monitoring. I had 2 follicles on my left ovary but they are not mature yet. So my OB asked me to have another shot of Gonal-F - that would be my 9th shot. Then at 4am of the following day, I need to inject Ovidrel so that the follicles will rapture just in time for the scheduled IUI (intrauterine insemination) on Monday night.

Of course, we were so diligent in following all my Ob's instructions. We badly need a baby that's why. :) Then yesterday, hubby and I didn't go to work. We conditioned ourselves for the IUI that would happen at 8 that night. We were at the clinic at around 5:30 pm since the collection would happen at 6 pm. The med tech came and gave us the instruction about the collection. I would not give details about that part anymore... or else I would get banned with the MRTCB! (haha)

As soon as the med tech was done with the cleansing, she called our OB. They prepared me on the bed with the stirrups. My OB first checked if the follicles have raptured. Good thing they did and that water is already in my uterus. Also the endometrium lining is quite thick now. So there, as easy as I imagined, the IUI was done in less than 20 minutes. They made me lie down for about 15 more minutes while my OB explained to us what transpired.

She said that the procedure done looked okay. Should we miss on this, then she would do exactly the same thing but then we would just change the medicine that would be used. Other than that, everything was simply fine. We just have to wait for 2 weeks and if I do not have my period yet by that time then I need to shop for more pregnancy tests.

By the way, my OB gave me folic acid. She said that we need that to prevent neural defects for our future baby. And she was smiling when she said "future baby" giving us high hopes. She was quite excited too and she even wanted to do a second ultrasound after the procedure just to check on what happen there. But she said that that would not help me and that is just for her curiosity. Would there be a baby Tabamo come August? Let's wait and see...

Again, we leave everything in God's hands... We are just faithful followers of His will...

Good Luck to Us

I remember when I was still studying, I always hate writing thesis, research paper or even movie reviews. Probably because I hate researching then and I am just not so good with the formal writing styles being used in these papers. But I am quite amazed that I have written a few then to think I am not comfortable doing these writings. So I think I deserve a pat on the shoulder then, don’t you think? Haha!

Is that the reason why my cousin called me to help her with her papers? She didn’t know she was making the biggest mistake in her life by involving me with her thesis, lols. I don’t know if my mind is still capable of producing a juicy formal paper.

She asked me, what is a dissertation and dissertation template? Actually, I am not quite familiar with those that is why I am now going to gather more information about them. I think I would really need to do my own researching before I could go my way and help her.

I even kidded her why not just buy an essay paper instead? Anyway, just wish us luck. I hope we would be able to do this.

Away He Goes to the Land Down Under

My youngest brother went to Australia, the land down under last Sunday. He would be working there now. Actually, he does not want to make a big fuss about him going out of the country to work but of course just like with any goodbyes, tears are sure to be shed. It's just that we've been used to having him around for almost anything (he can be sweet, responsible, funny, rude and nonsense sometimes, hehe) but we would surely miss Bapa Nyong (as the kids call him).

Good luck, Nyong and don't chase too many kangaroos (or koalas) there! We'll see you again :)

Eyeglass Galore

I just realized these past few weeks, I am using my eyeglasses more often and I no longer use my contact lenses. And since I have been so lazy putting in my contact lenses, I think it is high time that I choose one of those Incredible Stylish New Frames From Zenni. My old one needs a replacement, I am positive about that. Also I even heard that Zenni Optical was on FOX news!

Hey, hey, hey – now that’s awesome!

So that means I would be getting a better brand and with Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses, I would definitely get a good deal.

Do you think these frames would match my face?

How about this fashionable red glasses?

My New Pen

This would be my constant companion for 8 days.

We had our check up last Friday and my OB already gave me injectibles. I would be injecting 75iu of Gonal-F each day on my abdomen. I was really so scared when she told me that I would do that myself. Good thing, this pen is easy to manage and it is using a very thin needle. I tried it earlier and surely I can do it by myself! I am so proud of this (as in!) since I am really scared of needles and injections. (Way to go Arlene! hahaha)

My FSH serum test shows that I am at level 8 that is why my Gonal-F dosage is about higher than the normal 50iu (this is for level 7 and lower). The higher the FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) level, the higher would be the dosage for the injectibles. What is funny (and shocking at the same time) was when we are already asking them for my bill. Ate Lyn (the assistant) computed the PF (professional fee) and the 600 iu Gonal-F alone and gave me a whooping total of almost the same amount when I got confined for my hysteroscopy! Coincidence?! Golly, I was really so speechless but hubby said no need to compute. Money can never outweigh the joy of having a baby - DEFINITELY!

Also hubby is done with his test, too. Oh well, we are really a millionaire in that aspect (haha) but we need to work on the liquification. Robitussin Guaifenesin is the answer for that. Next OB appointment is on July 26 to check if I have produced good eggs. IUI will be scheduled then depending on the size of those eggs.

My First Boyfriend...

Yesterday while we were on our way home, I suddenly remembered something. I remembered that tomorrow (which is NOW) would mark the day that I had my very first boyfriend. That was 8 years ago when I got myself in a "formal" and "serious" relationship. I was in third year college then. Late bloomer - that was me --- THEN! lols

And this morning, I woke up with my first boyfriend and still my boyfriend now for 8 years. He simply said "Happy anniversary, girlfriend!" And we just laugh.... and kiss, of course!

I feel like a grade 1...

...who is going to a big school on the first day of classes. Waaaaah!!! From the time I started working, this is the first time that I had a long vacation - as in 2 weeks straight. I feel like it would be my first day in school again tomorrow but this time I am not that excited - actually I do not want to got back to my work, bwahahahah!

With this two weeks break, I got to love being a stay-at-home housewife even for a short time because..

~I can do everything I want.
~I can wake up in the morning late or wake up early and sleep again after hubby leaves for work.
~I can watch tv for hours.
~I can blog and squeeze in a little writing gigs.
~I can have long chats with friends.
~I can help hon with his tuck in and buttoning of his long sleeves.
~I can prepare breakfast for hon and ready his vitamins.
~We can have breakfast, lunch and dinner together (usually, we just have dinner together kc).
~We can go home to my parents' place or visit relatives anytime of the day.
~I can arrange more stuffs at home ( Tita & I got to arrange the dining, living, storage room and bedroom).
~I can surf and participate in forums.
~I am home first.
~I can rest for long hours anytime of the day.
~I get to walk hubby to the car and kiss him before going to work everyday. (I love this scene - I really feel like I am a "housewife", haha! Usually kasi he drives me to work first then he goes back home and prepare for his work naman)

Hay, there are more pa that I know I forgot. It's just that I got to appreciate being at home and playing a doting wife role. And I must say I really love playing that role so much. And tomorrow I am back to playing a working wife role. Though I am not really that happy with that one still I need to.

The bottomline: Sarap lang talaga kasing magpaka-bum for awhile! hehehe!

Missing Mom's Cooking

I feel pampered every time we go to my parents' place. That's because my mother cooks delicious food which I really crave. For just this week, we went to their place twice (Tuesday and Friday). And I am doing this post now while we're here (at their house). Hubby just don't want me to be all alone that is why he asked me to have a sleepover yesterday. Do you think I would say NO to such invitation? Never! Hubby has meeting today and I was left here with my parents and of course with my pamangkins. So as you see I was so occupied with every stay we have here - actually sa tanong at kakulitan lang ng mga anak ng kuya ko di ko na namalayan at tapos na pala ang araw.

Anyway, as I mentioned being here at my mom's place is the best. She actually cooked ginataang mais (rice porridge with coconut milk and corn) once for our snacks. It has been like ages since I tasted that truly Filipino mirienda. And for lunch, we're having kare-kare. I remembered when we were in college, every time we go home during weekends, we look forward for her special kare-kare. Nothing really beats going home to the house where you spent most of your life. And I must admit, I really miss mom's cooking. It's still the best!

A Date with Hancock

Last Saturday, hubby and I had the time to watch a movie. But before going to the movie, we went to the hospital to get some papers for my SSS sickness benefits and the result of the biopsy for the lump they removed from my uterus. And the result? No malignant cells found. Great! Awesome! Fantastic! Hay, was able to breathe finally! Then we went to Our Lady of Carmelite to again thank the Lord. And since we are already near Ystilo Salon, I decided to have a haircut. I will try to post a pic soon. It's shorter this time!

Then finally, we went to mall to have a lunch and watch the movie. Actually, I do not have any slight idea about the movie but since hubby said that we first watch Hancock over Monster Mom, I just agreed. There are so many people watching Monster Mom since it's weekend so it is just right that we'll watch it during a weekday.

There are funny scenes in the movie and I did not know that Hancock is a hero. The only problem is that he makes things worse every time he comes to the rescue. There was even an incident where instead of stopping the train to save the life of the person inside a car, he caused so much damage to the other cars in the traffic – some were totally wrecked. I could just imagine those people affected to be rushing their way to get a new car loan.

Anyway, I did not like the ending. Being a hopeless romantic as well as an advocate for fighting for one true love, I just could not take it that as a hero, he could not be with the one he loves. So sad! So after a date with Hancock, now I am waiting for a date with Monster Mom. I hope I’ll enjoy this movie of Anabelle Rama.

Stay Healthy

Niq, a good friend of mine once told me that carrot juice is really healthy. I was easily convinced so earlier, I did my own carrot juice. At first I thought that it tastes yucky but once I took a gulp of it, it's yummy! So here is how I prepared my own carrot juice.

What you need:

  • 5 medium or big carrots
  • water
  • a little sugar
  • blender
  • strainer
~Peel and clean the carrots. Cut them into small pieces.
~Put the carrots in the blender with water and sugar. Blend the mixture.
~Strain the juice while putting in a container. Set aside the pulp.
~Using a cheesecloth, get the juice out of the pulp. Add water if necessary.
~Chill and enjoy your homemade carrot juice. This makes 4 to 5 glasses of nutritious carrot juice.

my homemade carrot juice:

Of course, the process is easier if you have the juicer (we don't have one). It shows that carrot juice is indeed a good inclusion in our healthy daily diet. It has beta-carotene, Vit. A, E, B, C, D and K. Just look at that - it's complete enough to keep you healthy!

One thing that also struck me the most is its capability to help in reproduction. It was said that it helps in overcoming sterility - teehee! Now, you know why I was easily convinced to drink carrot juice!

Monthly Expenses

Okay, I have seen this with other blogger friends and I thought of doing it myself. I am one worry freak when it comes to budgeting and that is why I keep a notebook for our expenses as well as other cash flows. I know I need to be somewhat techie and use excel but I just love doing it the traditional way. So here is mine.

How many sq meters is your place, and how many people live there?
It's small about 96 sq meters. Hubby, I and my Yaya Tita live in this small and homey place. Sometimes hubby's grandma stays with us

How much is your electricity bill monthly? Water?
Normally our electricity is around 2,000 to 3,000 a month. As you know we just stay at our house during the night since we are both working. Aircon is from 6 pm to 6 am during weekdays and almost 24 hours during weekends.
Water bill pegs at around 350 per month. It's cheap and I love it!

Other utilities?
Amortization- 5,000
Internet and Cable - We have a package that includes 2 TV for cable and Internet connection at 1,100 per month. This is the reason we dumped Smart Bro - we saved 500 pesos with this package.
Mobile Phone Loads - I average around 300 to 500 per month. Hubby has a plan and the company is the one paying for it. But sometimes he exceeds the plan and we are shelling out an additional 1,000.
Drinking Water - 300 to 500
Gas/Fuel - Hubby's company pays for it (12,000) but sometimes this is not enough so we allocate an additional 2,000.
LPG - This is 680 for 1.5 to 2 months.
Tita Yaya - 2,500 to 3,000 (This includes my manicure and pedicure. She is the one doing that now)
Basurero - 50 a month

Hubby's food allowance - 5,000 per month
Arlene's food allowance - 2,000 per month (Our company is giving us free meal (breakfast and lunch). That budget is just for afternoon snacks)

Groceries/ market?
Groceries - I usually do this twice a month and totals around 6,000 to 7,000. This includes snacks, some meat, breakfast stuffs, toiletries. I wonder how much would this be if we are already buying diapers and infant milk?
Market - Since we are buying meat from the supermarket, the budget for this is round 3,000 per month.

Other expenses:

Of course, every once in awhile we dine out, watch movies and do some shopping.

Then we also have credit cards. We bought some appliances and other gadgets. That is why I am thinking of a debt reduction to consolidate these payables. Do you think that is a bright idea?

Also the expense which get a big pie in our chart of expenses is our work ups. Remember we just had a procedure done and that involves a day confinement. Being confined in the hospital is like an overnight stay in a 6-star hotel. They rob you that fast!

The week after hysteroscopy...

Last Thursday was the first check up after my hysteroscopy. I am actually worried since I have getting light bleeding even after a week. I read that it's just normal to experience this but still it bothers me since I know that I would be prone to infection as long as there is still bleeding or spotting. Also I am supposed to be ovulating on this day since it is my day 13, so you should know by now what I am really worried about.

Anyway, I mentioned this to my OB and she said it's just alright. We did an ultrasound to check if I have eggs. Unfortunately, there was no sign of ovulation. Probably my system got stressed with the whole procedure that is why even if I took Femara, I did not ovulate. What is also surprising (which got me worried big time) is that my ultrasound showed my right fallopian tube clearly. You can see those finger like structures of the fallopian tube. My OB said that this is not good since our tubes should not be seen in an ordinary ultrasound. So this means that my right fallopian tube might be swelling. But she said that since my hysterosonography showed 2 patent tubes then there is no need to worry. She tried to double check it but then the second time, the tube hide and she could no longer see it in the ultrasound.

So our IUI is scheduled not until my next cycle. Our game plan right now includes stopping the bleeding with Progynova and regulating my hormones by taking Duphaston 2x a day. Also, starting my next cycle, we would go for injectibles and IUI. So on my third day, I need to have the FSH test to check if I still have good quantity and quality of eggs left.

This means then one thing - July is not the baby month for us since my system down there got shaken with the whole procedure and need to recuperate for a month so that we can go back to normal programing (haha!).

Insurance, Shopping and Cheesecake

We were dead tired last Thursday. The day started by going to the OB for my check up. And as expected, I was number 11 even if we came there around 9 AM. So while waiting, we went to LTO Angeles for some papers. Then we went back to the clinic. The details of my check up will be in another post.

Right after my check up we went to Makati to submit some papers for my mother-in-law's insurance claim. On our way to Makati, hubby had a hard time figuring out the no U-turn, no left turn and one-way roads in Makati. It's been quite awhile since we've been there so we were somehow on the loose. Anyway, the moment we got to Makati, we had lunch at Delifrance at Paseo de Roxas and then went ahead to the insurance company. And since we were already there, we tried to check out insurance quote. Good thing all the papers needed for my mom-in-law's benefit claim were complete and we just have to wait for the proceeds to be deposited on her account.

We then drove to UST to talk to another auntie about my MIL's retirement certificate. When we were done with our agenda for going to the city, we opted to do some shopping in Greenhills. You see, it's been awhile since the last time I shopped, so for me Greenhills is like heaven that time. And the highlight of the day? Stuffing my tummy with white chocolate pistachio from Cheesecake, etc - yummy! Though tired, shopping and a cheesecake made my day!

What's for Breakfast?

You see with my busy schedule as a working wife, I seldom find time to cook. Good thing my husband loves doing this during weekends so most often, he cooks for me if we would not go out for lunch or dinner during the weekends. This has been the set up since my tita cum yaya cum manicurista (she's all-in-one) stayed with us. I love this set up since my tita already knows what to do when we are out for work during weekdays. And at least I am sure that with her in our house, there is nothing to worry. So as a gratitude for all her help, she gets to spend the weekends with her family.

And since I am loving being a bum for one week now, I get to cook breakfast for today. I am no-expert when it comes to cooking but I can cook. I used to love cooking during the first few years when we moved in to our own house. Probably I was loving the feel of bahay-bahayan then. After that I did not know what happened but all I knew is that hubby needs to request (actually beg me) first before I do my thing in our kitchen. Ah, now I know why I stopped cooking - it's because I know someone will do the cooking for me and that I got lazy (haha!).

Anyway, here is what we had for breakfast. German franks, toasted bread and my special scrambled egg (this one has green bell pepper, cheese cubes, a dash of nutmeg and oregano and some Parmesan cheese for toppings). Since this happens once in a blue moon I just got to document and take a photo of it, heheh!

Also on a second thought, I think I would rather love cooking during weekends because hubby gets to wash the dishes after. Another thing, I prepared fruit salad yesterday. Hubby is craving for it and good thing we all have the ingredients in our pantry. This time he need not beg me to do it because I am not doing anything at home. Can you now hear my hubby wishing that I'll just stay forever at home and no longer work in an office? Oh well I am wishing the same thing..... but I guess it's not yet the perfect time for that!

X.O.X.O Gossip Girl

I have been waiting for this long vacation and now that I am at it, here I am getting bored at day 4. So what to do? Watch GOSSIP GIRL! Been wanting to watch it but I always forget about it since I always have a side job to finish...

So now is the time ... I guess this is Gossip Girl marathon then. :)
